In a shocking video that has gone viral on social media, a clip of IRCTC employees physically fighting each other at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi has emerged. In the clip, which appeared on many websites early Wednesday morning, employees can be seen throwing dustbins and wielding belts as weapons, igniting outrage and concern over discipline and safety at one of the capital’s most busy stations.
As cited by eyewitnesses, the fight had allegedly happened near the platform of the Vande Bharat Express, a spot that is normally tightly guarded because of the operations of the premium train. People were panicked as the fight intensified, with a few narrowly avoiding being struck by projectiles. The footage captures a minimum of half a dozen of the staff involved in the fight while other staff members tried to step in and break up the groups.
The cause of the clash is not certain, but the initial reports indicated that it could have been due to a disagreement over job duties. IRCTC has not made an official statement regarding this yet, though sources indicate that an internal probe has been launched for ascertaining the guilty parties and taking them to task.
What has specially invited public wrath is the way public property such as dustbins and belts have been employed as weapons in a high-security railway area. Most netizens were outraged by the fight, asking how this kind of brawl could break out in a place under CCTV and constant passenger movement. “If IRCTC personnel are brawling like this in uniform, what sort of example do they set? ” one user tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).
Another said, “This is occurring close to the Vande Bharat platform — where’s the security?
The clip, which went viral, has once again brought into focus discussions around management of staff and stress at workplaces within the Indian Railways network. Experts say that prolonged working hours, communication failures, and poor grievance redressal more often than not result in escalating tensions among ground-level staff. Railway officials have reportedly reviewed the CCTV footage and are expected to release an official statement soon. Meanwhile, passengers have demanded stricter measures to ensure such incidents don’t recur, especially in high-traffic zones like Nizamuddin and New Delhi stations. The incident comes as a reminder to uphold professional behavior and public safety in the nation’s railway network. Until the investigation is completed, the Ministry of Railways will be required to act decisively in order to save the reputation and integrity of one of India’s most prestigious public services.
