In an incredible spectacle that illuminated the religious core of India, Ayodhya created history yet again by lighting a record 26 lakh diyas (clay lamps) along the holy banks of the Saryu River during Deepotsav 2025. The grand spectacle not only dazzled millions of viewers all over the world but also created a new world record for the most diyas lit at one point.
The capital of Lord Ram was turned into a golden ocean of light as devotees, locals, and volunteers gathered to celebrate the victory of light over darkness, depicting the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya. The awe-inspiring beauty of the twinkling diyas spread from ghats, temples, and streets presented an otherworldly picture filled with chants, devotion, and happiness.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other prominent dignitaries joined the celebrations, making offerings of prayers and inaugurating the record-breaking ceremony. The festival featured cultural performances, Ram Leela enactments, laser shows, and a thundering fireworks display that lit up the night sky.
Representatives from the Guinness World Records were also present to formally recognize the new record, announcing that Ayodhya’s Deepotsav 2025 was the biggest diya-lighting event in all of human history. The huge turnout revealed India’s strong cultural harmony and the people’s respect for their heritage.
The festival also focused on environmental sustainability with diyas constructed from natural clay and using sustainable oil, incurring the least damage to the environment. Volunteers’ determination and devotion were of paramount importance in lighting and keeping diyas burning throughout the length of the festival.
As millions of lights glistened together, Ayodhya renewed why it is a symbol of faith and cultural pride. Deepotsav 2025 not only made records but also revived the spirit of Diwali, and reminded the world that light — be it physical or spiritual — is still leading mankind ahead.
